November 19th - November 23rd

This week we will continue to explore 2D geometry as well as angles. Students will learn to easily recognize the difference between acute, obtuse and right angles (see this link for more info: We will be completing and presenting our Charlotte's Web book reports this week.

This week is bullying awareness and prevention week. We will have a school wide assembly on Thursday morning to help celebrate this cause.

Week at a glance... Nov. 12-16

This week students will be completing a book report on Charlotte's Web, the success criteria can be accessed here. Students will have a few blocks to complete this project. On Tuesday, November 13th there will be an Order of Operations test, once marked these will be sent home for parent signature. Next week we will being a new unit in Mathematics, focusing on geometry and students will begin to work on a writing piece in language.

As a reminder there is a PD day on Friday, November 16th.

Week at a glance... Nov. 5-9th

This week students have been assigned a large Math homework package to prepare for our upcoming Order of Operations test. The test will be on Tuesday, November 13th. Students are reminded to follow BDMAS.

Our novel study on Charlotte's Web is coming to an end, we will be completing the novel this week and will complete a brief book report next week. As a reminder all report cards and interview forms need to be returned ASAP. 


Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled on Thursday, November 8 from 3-6 pm. If you have completed and returned your form you will be receiving your interview time shortly.

Remembrance Day Liturgy will take place on Friday, November 9th...

This week at a glance... Oct. 29- Nov. 2nd

This week students will continue to work on their order of operations as well as word problems. Students are encouraged to work on their multiplication tables at home. In language we will work diligently towards completing our Charlotte's Web Novel study in the upcoming weeks.

Halloween announcement: On Wednesday, October 31st the student's have organized a "feast" students may bring in a peanut free food item to share with the class. Should you have any other dietary concerns please call the school at 613-731-3541. Please remember that participation in this activity is optional and students do not need to bring in food in order to partake. Happy Halloween and be safe!

Please remember that homework is not optional. Student's must complete their homework in order to participate in other fun activities within the class and the school. Please check the agenda for homework information.

This Week at a Glance... Oct. 22-25th

This week we will continue to focus on our multiplication facts. Students are encouraged to pratice at home. Please ensure that all students are completing their homework. Students will have homework approximately once or twice a week. In language we continue to read Charlotte's Web and this week we will write a mock newspaper article. Students are encouraged to use the co-constructed success criteria to ensure that they are doing their best possible work.

Picture orders are due October 25th and please returned all signed Charlotte's Web questions :)

This week at a glance October 15th - 19th

This week students will be focusing on mental math using multiplication and division. They will be asked to complete any unfinished work at home. Please bring your agenda to and from school everyday in order to record homework. We will continue on with our Novel study, please remember to review: Restate, Opinion, Proof, Evidence, Summarize when answering narrative questions. Thanks again to all parents who were able to come to our Open House last Friday!

Week at a glance.... Oct. 9 - Oct. 12

This week we will be completing our Digital Citizen's presentation on how to be safe online. These presentations also focus on the importance of the parable of The Good Samaritan. In Math, we will be focusing on mental math, looking at when to use it and how it can help us in our everyday lives. We will also be continuing on with our novel study and we will have a vocabulary quiz on Friday, October 12th.

Students must ensure that they have had their math tests signed by parents and that all corrections have been completed. Please make sure you have reviewed and signed the math test from last week. Thank you!

Week at a glance... Oct. 1st - Oct. 5th

This week students will be receiving their corrected tests from last week's place value assessment, please review the test with your child, sign and return it. In math we will review decimals to the thousandth place. We will also begin to look at the importance of mental math. In language we will continue with our novel study, Charlotte's Web. As global citizen we will discuss the impact that our digital imprint has on both ourselves and the world.

Great news! The Apple Orchard field trip has been rescheduled for Thursday, October 4th - please be advised that another permission form will need to be signed and returned in order to attend the trip.

As a reminder Friday, October 5th is a PD day and there will be no school. I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends!!

Week at a glance - Sept. 24 - 28...

This week we are keeping all those who have been impacted by the recent tornado in our thoughts and prayers. Due to the weather related events the trip to the Apple Orchard has been postponed, please stay tuned for a new date. Boys soccer has also been moved from Wednesday, September 26th to Friday, September 28th.

MATH TEST - Thursday, September 28th - please review the links posted last week as well as your math binder to study for the upcoming test. Students will complete review activities to ensure they are prepared for the upcoming place value test. We will continue to read Charlotte's Web and will add to our growing vocabulary list.

Upcoming Math Assessment - Thursday, September 27th

To begin I would like to congratulate all members of the Girl's soccer team on their excellent effort and sportsmanship at this week's tournament. Way to go girls! The boys tournament will be next Wednesday. Good luck boys!

Week at glance... Sept. 17-21

It has been a very strong start for the grade six class this year. They have been excellent role models both in and out of the classroom. Keep up the great work!!!

This week the students will continue to focus on reading, representing, comparing and ordering whole numbers to 100000.  We will continue with our novel study as we look to use a variety of reading comprehension strategies.

Explain - Explain your thinking
Summarize - Summarize your answer

Students will continue to discuss being a good digital citizen and we will overview strategies to being part of the online community. Please check the agenda daily to look for homework assignments.
